OPEN WATER COURSEHow do I become a certified diver?
An Open Water Course is the entry level SCUBA (Self-Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus) certification, allowing you to dive up to recommended depths of 18 meters (60 feet) with other certified divers upon successful completion of the course.
The course can be completed in a minimum of three days, four days or if you're around for a little longer we can do it in 'Fiji Time'. We start by learning the theory and basic skills, reading the books and completing some simple written tasks. In none of our dive schools in Fiji do we use a pool for basic skills. Rather we use the confined water environment provided by the beaches and lagoons straight out of the front of the resorts.

These provide us with pool-like conditions but with the added benefit of coral and fish to look at (rather than just dirty old tiles). It also provides a much better simulation of the open water environment and we are able to take much more competent divers out on their open water training dives and who are much more able to enjoy the experience.

Our training methods employ a comfort through repetition approach across six training dives. By the end of the sixth dive you will be comfortable and confident enough to enjoy diving safely without the supervision of an instructor. Four of the six training dives will be in the confined water in the shallows off the beaches outside the resorts and the final two could be on any of the stunning platform reefs that Fiji is famous for and are only a short boat journey away.
