THE YASAWAS

Most of the reefs around this area are unsurveyed and uncharted so diving is exploratory in nature. You can expect crystal clear water, with visibility averaging 30 meters, and a lot of big fish action. The area has an interesting array of schooling surgeon fish, huge buffalo parrotfish, napoleon wrasse and turtles are seen frequently. The fringing reefs are are home to pristine hard and soft corals whilst the platform reefs are comprised of new growth hard corals. Opportunities for deep diving here are plentiful.

MANTARAY ISLAND RESORT

Reef Safari have a base at Mantaray Island Resort, on the small island of Nanuya Balavu. The resort took two years to come to fruition and opened in December 2004. It is extremely pleasing on the eye and has many features that make it stand out. The name of this resort probably gives something away. Between the months of March and November majestic mantarays frequent the shallow, fast moving channel that separates Nanuya Balavu from the larger island of Naviti.

From Mantaray Island Resort we also provide diving services for guests on a number of Awesome Adventures Fiji packages as well as the Awesome Adventures 'Wanna Taki Cruise' vessel that meanders slowly around Naviti's waters. Reef Safari rendezvous with the vessel daily to pick up and drop off students and certified divers.

We also provide diving services for Botaira Resort, Korovou Eco Resort and Coconut Bay Resort, which are on the island of Naviti itself.

Exhilarating drift dives with the mantas are an unforgettable experience. However, you do not have to be a certified diver in order to get up close and personal with the rays as we run introductory dive courses on site too.

If you would like to become certified we run open water courses as and when desired as well as advanced, rescue diver and dive master courses for those that would like to take their diving to the next level.
